JoAnn & Dave Plant

JoAnn died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. She’d had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, celebrating the fourth birthday of her grandson on Saturday with lots of family and friends, then having lunch and dinner on Sunday with her sons. The constant was her husband of 53 years, Dave. At a scheduled Monday appointment with the ophthalmologist, she complained of dizziness when walking, had her blood pressure checked , and was referred to a primary care physician for an appointment. Nobody realized anything was urgent. On Wednesday morning before the appointment, she had more trouble breathing and couldn’t stand while she was getting ready to have breakfast, and Dave called emergency services. The Gresham Fire & Rescue arrived promptly, quickly followed by an ambulance. The medics quickly loaded her and headed for Adventist Medical Center in SE Portland, where her son Jon arrived before Dave and Darrel, who were both coming from JoAnn and Dave’s home. Jon was the one to let Dave know that JoAnn hadn’t made it to the hospital.

Everyone who knew her is in shock at the sudden loss.

A memorial service has been scheduled for June 24, 2014 at 10am, at Leach Botanical Garden, 6704 SE 122nd, Portland, OR.
